Rules of Conduct

PLEDGE: I promise to uphold the rules of conduct and good sportsmanship of the Oxford Sportsman’s Club. I also understand that the club is for the use of the members only. A guest may accompany me, but after three visits, will be expected to purchase a Membership.

  1. All firearms are to be handled with the respect due a loaded gun. Loaded guns on the firing line only.

     

  2. All shooting to be in the direction of an approved backstop.

     

  3. Each member is responsible for the care, maintenance and security of the clubhouse and surrounding property. *This is an important responsibility of membership*

     

  4. Members not conforming to gun policies may have their membership canceled, or future membership refused.
     
  5. Family membership includes spouse and children under 18.

     

  6. General meetings are the 3rd Monday of each month (excluding July & August) at 7:30p.m.

OSC Range Rules

Trap Range Rules
  1. Guns are to always remain open, except on firing line or in gun rack.

  2. Eye and ear protection must be worn.

  3. Only one shell at a time in gun except when shooting doubles.

  4. Do not close action until it is your turn to shoot.

  5. NO ammunition larger than 12 gauge, 3 ½ dram or shot larger than #7 ½

  6. When changing station on trap line, gun must be open and unloaded.

  7. When someone down range of the red flag is up on trap house; all guns are to be open and unloaded, until the person down range or red flag on trap house is taken down.

  8. Trap range and Rifle range will be closed on those days scheduled for sporting clay shoots and will remain closed until the sporting clay event is over. 

 

Sporting Clay Rules
  1. Sporting Clays will operate under the same rules as Trap.

  2. Trap and Rifle ranges will be closed until after the sporting event is finished.

Rifle Range
  1. Red flags located inside rear entrance to clubhouse must place on pole at the 100-meter shooting bench.

  2. All shooters must sign in Logbook located on pole at the 100-meter shooting bench: Name or Membership Number, guest included. 

  3. Eye and ear protection must be worn.

  4. Shooting alone is not recommended.

  5. Someone must act as range officer. 

  6. Firearms unloaded and actions open and no handling of firearms when anyone is down range. 

  7. Targets are to be positioned on target board so that no shots will hit any part of the wooden target supports.
     
  8. No steel or exploding targets are to be used on the range.

  9. No shotgun target load patterning to be used on the range of the property. 

  10. No shooting after dark.

  11. No restricted / prohibited firearms to be used on the range or the property.

  12. Members must closely supervise all guests and minors. 

  13. Clean up shell casings and remove targets when finished shooting and return flags to the clubhouse.

  14. No shooting further back than the 100-meter bench. 

  15. Rifle and Trap rangers will be closed during Sporting Clay events.

Shotgun Patterning Board
  1. Clay target loads ONLY.

  2. No rifle, slug, or buckshot.

  3. Shooting from the 20, 30, or 40-meter markers.

  4. Point of Aim should be in line with the blue arrows.
